The University’s QuaMS Director, Dr. Fernando T. Herrera, said that the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHaSS) had passed the stringent Internal Quality Audit (IQA) held on April 8, 2021 via Zoom.
Prof. Ruth E. Sanchez, CHaSS Dean, earlier told the CHaSS PIWO that, among colleges of the University, only the CHaSS being a newly established college was audited by the QuaMS Director himself during the simultaneous conduct of IQA to all units, departments, and colleges of the University through document-based review using Zoom’s breakout rooms.
The one-day activity, facilitated by the Office of the Quality Management System and spearheaded by Dr. Herrera, aimed to assess the effectiveness of the University’s quality management system and its overall performance, as part of a requirement for the University’s application for re-certification of ISO 9001:2015 surveillance audit scheduled on June 28-30, 2021.
The QuaMS Director lauded the College’s application for a Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) and went on saying by emphasizing its role as integral part of compliance to the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) and of program accreditation requirements set by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP).
Meanwhile, Dr. Herrera mentioned the initiatives of the College in establishing mechanisms in its journey towards continual improvement by complying both regulatory and statutory requirements as manifested in the series of activities facilitated by the College, particularly on flexible teaching and learning initiatives.
Dr. Herrera concluded with remarks on opportunities for improvement as to aspects of unifying records and documents and of creating a classroom supervisory plan which the College is trying to establish as told to CHaSS PIWO by John Ralde Felias, QuaMS Core Group member representing the College. –CHaSS PIWO
